DOJ  捕风捉影的“中国计划”

WASHINGTON, Jan. 11, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- On Wednesday, January 12, between 2:00am-3:15pm EST, United Chinese Americans (UCA) held a press conference highlighting the personal story, suffering, and mistreatment of the China Initiative victims, at the hands of the federal law enforcement.

Attending and speaking at this event were:

  1. Members of the Congress who have worked on this issue;

  2. Dr. Anming Hu, professor at the University of Tennessee, was the first academic to stand trial under the DOJ China Initiative. After the jury deadlocked, the judge issued a full acquittal;

  3. Phil Lomonaco, a trial lawyer who successfully defended Dr. Hu;

  4. Wendy Chandler, member of the jury in the trial of Dr. Hu;

  5. Jamie Satterfield, a reporter for local Knoxville News who attended and reported on the trial;

  6. Dr. Qing Wang, senior researcher at the Cleveland Clinic, was charged under the DOJ China Initiative but the later government dismissed the charge;

  7. Ms. Hong Peng, wife of Professor Tao who is charged under the DOJ China Initiative;

  8. Sherry Chen, a former federal employee, was wrongly charged by DOJ and is still fighting to get her civil rights back.

司法部“中国行动计划“在经历了一系列的挫败后，在美国各界人士的共同努力下，正面临“前途未卜”和被迫“整改”的窘境。为保障在美华人的长期权益，UCA决定将于本周三01/12号中午美东时间11:30-12:30pm组织发起在司法部门前静默抗议政府在执法中对华裔科学家的不公对待和歧视。地点为250 9th Street NW, corner of 9th St， NW & Pennsylvannia Ave NW. 

我们期待大华府和附近地区的华人朋友们相互关心，积极参与，表达正义，为华人挣得应有的一份平等和公平待遇。

【演讲主题】美中关系紧张给在美华人学者带来的新挑战 -- 刑法案例和政策法规的现状

【演讲嘉宾】郗小星 教授

随着美中关系的高度紧张，美国政府认为中国干涉和利用联邦政府资助的科研，把其看作对国家安全的威胁。联邦调查局视华裔教授、科学家和学生以及与中国政府进行学术合作的学者为给中国收集情报的非传统间谍，其中数千人正在接受刑事调查。

2015年，郗小星教授成为这场运动的无辜受害者。在本次演讲中，郗教授将通过最新刑法案例和政策法规展示与中国有联系的学者所面临的风险，包括在中国有家人、朋友、专业和财务关系，或者在美国指导中国学生。郗教授呼吁听众加入日益壮大的发声行列，反对种族定性，支持开放的基础研究。
